Have you ever been indecisive whether to go in or not when you pass by a dessert shop? (Imagine all the colorful macarons) Guess what, I am that person who will run straight to a pop-up shop or a dessert place that sells macarons with a big smile on. I can't help but to buy the macarons because they are so tempting! The cravings are real. Can you relate?
Since macarons are part of my life and one of my favorite desserts, I'd like to share where to get delicious macarons in Houston. In Houston, the prices of macarons range between $1-3.
Before I dive in, let's go over the differences between a macaron and macaroon.
1. Whole Foods
Did you know Whole Foods carry a variety of delicious macarons? They have a self-serve macaron bar where you can choose macarons from 10+ flavors. Aside from the macaron bar, they also sell ice cream mochi with six different flavors which is so good. Compared to other macaron shops in Houston, I found their prices to be cheaper if you buy a lot together. You can find macaron flavors here at Whole Foods like pistachio, french lavender, red velvet, salted caramel, birthday cake, chocolate and many more. Their macarons are sweet but not too sweet and some of their fillings have different flavors which makes it even better.
Woops macarons are so yummy! Originally from New York, Woops macaron has few other locations in Houston as well. I went to the pop-up shop in Memorial City Mall. They have 20+ macaron flavors to choose from and I got blueberry cheesecake, nutella, strawberry, mojito, earl grey, and raspberry. You can also try the macaron pyramid. It's pretty much a pyramid made with different macarons. Woops offer macaron workshops and classes in Houston so be sure to check them out.
3. Oui Desserts
This dessert shop is located in Kirby Richmond Plaza Houston and they have some delicious macaron flavors such as blueberry, chocolate, hazelnut, lavender, rose, strawberry and more. Oui Desserts also sell cookies and tarts. They have this cozy interior and it's a perfect place to catch up with friends.
This macaron shop in City Centre Houston has a lot of macarons along with cakes, cupcakes, coffee, and ice cream! Their macarons are slightly chewy and airy. They also have macaron towers, macaron ice cream sandwiches (cookies n' creme, cookie dough, fruity pebble & vanilla bean), custom numbered cake, and a giant homemade meringue cookie. SWEET definitely offers a lot compared to other macaron shops in Houston.
This small shop nearby Galleria Mall Houston mainly sells artisan chocolate but they do have some homemade macarons as well. While they have fewer flavors available compared to other dessert shops in Houston, you cannot beat the quality! Some of the ones I got were raspberry, mocha, rose, and pistachio. They have vanilla, chocolate and lemon flavored macarons as well.
This dessert bakery on Westheimer Houston is a hidden gem! They are not necessarily a macaron shop but they do have homemade gourmet macarons which are pretty delicious. Some of the macaron flavors they have are rose, passion fruit, green tea matcha, peach, lemon basil and more. They also sell tarts, cakes, and croissants.
This boutique dessert shop is located in River Oaks and Galleria. I'm pretty sure if you live in Houston, you've been here at least once. In this photo, the flavors are strawberry, fruity pebbles, lavender white chocolate, red velvet, blueberry vanilla bean, and cookies & cream. They carry a lot of flavors! The macarons melt in your mouth and they are very soft and rich. They are also known for macaron gelato pops, macaron ice cream sandwich, and their signature series.
Costco is not a dessert shop but just like Whole Foods, they do sell macarons. Unlike all the other macaron shops in Houston, they sell a lot of macarons in bulk. I'm glad I tried because I really liked it. Their macarons are perfectly sweet, chewy and soft. I'd definitely recommend buying their macarons if you are thinking of eating a lot (like me). The flavors are from left to right, milk tea, pistachio, rose, chocolate, orange, and vanilla. My favorites are milk tea and rose!
This dessert shop is located in River Oaks Houston. They are most popular for rose petal gelato ice cream and other desserts like milkshakes and sorbet drinks. However, they do sell macarons. Sometimes you can put a mini macaron on top of your gelato ice cream which makes it even better. Some of the macaron flavors you can choose from are mango, honey lavender, pistachio, caramel and more.
Hope you enjoyed this post as much as me! I was craving macarons once again while writing this post. Which macaron flavor do you like the most?
