You know I'm all about healthy lifestyle, right? Snap Kitchen is the perfect meal prep service if you are looking for fresh and nutritious meals on the go or don't have time to cook. All of their meals come in ready to eat, so you just have to heat it in the oven or microwave it. From breakfast, lunch, dinner to small bites, sides, snacks, juices and sweets, with Snap Kitchen, you are all set. They are ready to take care of your entire meal.
Snap Kitchen locations include these 4 cities, Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston and Philadelphia. They are planning to expand to more cities in the future. They have 11 locations in Houston and I went with the one right by the Memorial City Mall (Memorial Villages). Let's dive into three categories of what Snap Kitchen comprises.
1. Snap Kitchen App
The interface is customer-friendly and app itself downloads fast. Once you log in, you can either choose to deliver or pick up the food. Feel free to dine-in in their physical shop. Their customer service chat tool is available during their hours. I found it convenient since it performs as if you are directly texting Snap Kitchen. One of their representatives will reply right away. All conversations are auto-saved as well.
2. Snap Kitchen Meal Plans + Process
You can build your own meal plan or go with the pre-made plans like low carb lifestyle, balanced lifestyle, vegetarian, high protein, whole30 or paleo. All these meal plans, recipes and menu are curated by Snap Kitchen's dedicated master chef and RD dietician.
Low carb, balance and high protein plans do not give you option for snacks and drinks. Menus are pre-selected depends on the calorie goal you've chosen. However, there are alternative options for the pre-selected meal if you don't like it. Then, there are vegetarian, whole30 and paleo meal plans. These won't ask you calorie goals and have different menu selections.
In case you didn't know (I didn't either), Whole30 is 30-day diet where you follow Snap Kitchen's clean eating plan. It is designed to clean up your eating habits by cutting out foods that might have a negative impact on your health. Paleo diet is rich in veggies, fruits and nuts.
3. Prices & Nutritional Facts
Surprisingly, many of the items on the menu are affordable. The most priciest item is about $13. Each item you click, it will show you calories, nutritional facts, and prices. You will also notice many of the food are gluten-free, nut-free, milk-free and many more. Keep in mind, while it is not expensive, the portion is small at the same time.
If you are on a meal plan, you can also skip a week or reschedule. This gives you enough time and there are no forced payments!
Good news for you, they have flexible delivery time from 8am - 8pm. On the first week, I built my own meal plan and scheduled a delivery. Quick tip here: if you live in a gated apartment, make sure to let them know to come inside the gated area so they are aware. Starting second week and other days, I did a pick-up to check out Snap Kitchen's physical store. This Snap Kitchen you are seeing in the photos is located nearby the Memorial City Mall Houston. It also seemed like more items were in stock. As you can see below, you can dine-in the Snap Kitchen restaurant. The interior is bright and clean. Friendly staff!
See what I got from Snap Kitchen:
1. Crunchy Coconut Shrimp (8/10)
Delicious, didn't leave me bloated, and the cabbage blended in quite well. The sauce was great but without it, it's still delicious. Large soft shrimps and ate this whole thing within 10 bites. Still made me full. All I did was to microwave 1 minute.
2. Creamed Corn (10/10)
So yummy, perfect amount of creaminess and fresh corn. It won't make you full but it's a great snack. The competition is strong for this creamed corn. Tried to order again but it's always sold out. You need to try this creamed corn! It's that good.
3. Cauliflower and Cheesy Grits (9/10)
This was my first time trying grits. It was a yes for me. Cauliflower and cheesy grits went well together. Again, a quick snack if you get hungry.
4. Chicken Nuggets w/ Cashew Based Herb Ranch (9/10)

5. Chicken Fried Broccoli Rice (9/10)
Aside of chicken being slightly dry, it was delicious and healthy. It will not leave you bloated or too full, you can eat this dish for lunch or dinner. I paired it with some roasted seaweed.
6. Seasoned Grilled Steak (9/10)
Cooked medium rare, very juicy and tender. You can pair it with some rice. One of my favorite side dishes from Snap Kitchen! I highly recommend this one.
7. Cranberry Chicken Wrap (9/10)
Didn't expect much but it surprised me! I forgot to take a photo as I was super hungry. Just imagine cranberry, chicken, and lettuce all packed together in the tight wrap (like the photo above). You can meal prep this for lunch. Delicious wrap you can finish in less than 10 minutes!
8. Roasted Broccolini & Tuscan Kale Side Salad (8/10)
These side veggies were well seasoned but it's great to eat with some protein. If you eat it by themselves, then consider them being healthy snacks.
9. Spinach Goat Cheese Scramble w/ Sweet Potatoes (10/10)
Most visually pleasing and tasty meal I've eaten from Snap Kitchen! Everything was perfect including well cooked sweet potatoes. Couldn't be better and I highly recommend for you to try this! You can use my code here and try this delicious meal (and get $45 snap funds)!!
10. Blueberry & Banana Muffin (10/10)
These two cupcakes were both on the new breakfast item list on the Snap Kitchen app! Both were moist and soft. Blueberry was a bit more tasty for me but you need to try both!
11. Fresh Fruit (10/10)
You might be wondering, how can you not expect fruit to be rated 10/10? Well, sometimes you buy fruits in local grocery stores and get disappointed when you realize they are not fresh. Snap Kitchen's fresh fruit was awesome! Definitely makes a perfect snack to satisfy your hunger between classes, office meetings, or during breaks. It includes orange and green cantaloupes, purple seedless grapes, pineapples and apples. I love how fresh and riped they were.
12. Purely Elizabeth Raspberry Pitaya Vibrant Oats (8/10)
Snap Kitchen packed a free breakfast for me! Yay! This was actually my first time trying oatmeal which was interesting. This oat cup includes quinoa, flax and chia seeds. I loved the raspberry flavor added with granola. I wish it was a bit sweeter since it was really healthy but with honey it made me really full. If you like oats, you should check out this new item!
13. Chia Berry Boost (8/10)
Are you those people who drink post workout smoothies or healthy blended smoothies? Try this chia berry boost smoothie! This healthy smoothie made my cravings for Smoothie King go away! It also tastes a bit like pomegranate + red wine. I think it was because of the beet juice and strawberry water.
14. Sparkling Green Tea (8/10)
This unsweetened organic green tea with a slight of grapefruit and mint taste is refreshing! Since it's sparkling, you can pair it with sweets or fried food. I drank this sparkling green tea while eating some macarons and it was just perfect. If you like drinking green tea or if you are trying to cut soda, try this drink!
15. Health-Ade Kombucha (10/10)
I was so curious to try what this would taste like. I was sold by the packaging and the two flavors, maca-berry and blackcurrant. This bubbly super-tea is so delicious! Think of it as sparkling berry tea. I totally loved it and will definitely purchase again.
