5 Tips To Not Procrastinate During Finals

5/2/2016

procrastination
As you know or heard, procrastination is our biggest enemy!
We all have done that one thing where we told ourselves, 'oh, I will just do that later, I have plenty of time left.' (Just like the photo above)

Well, I bet the results you got weren't as exciting as you expected.

It is final exams and projects week where we wrap up what we learned throughout the semester. You will feel exhausted, stressed, and overwhelmed. However, if you plan those ahead, you will find yourself overcoming the anxiety!

Worst Examples of Typical Students:
1. "When is it due?"
Solution: Keep track of your deadlines either on a planner or your phone calendar!

2. "I don't remember her/him saying that."
Solution: Pay attention in class. You pay for school. It's only 1-2 hours per class, nothing you can't handle.

3. "Hey can I see your homework/project?" "I just want to check my work" or "I just want to get an idea"
(actually I'm about to copy what you have done)
Solution: Don't try to take advantage of your friend or to find an easy way. Put some effort in. If your friend did it, you can do it as well. Be confident in your answers.

What Procrastination Leads To:
  • Effortless, last minute, crammed homework/project
  • Not knowing the exam material
  • Asking friends about what is going on and when the deadlines are
  • low grades, needing extra credit opportunities
  • Stress & regrets thinking 'I should've done this earlier when I had time'

What Your Next Semester Goals Should Be Like:
1. Write everything down on your planner. You are busy with your life, you forget about things.
Treat your planner as your best friend. A reminder. (Crossing out those tasks makes it feel good)

2. Make realistic goals on each items on the list.

For example, finish reading chapter 1 on Monday, 2 on Tuesday, 3 on Wednesday etc.

3. Reward yourself with small things once you finish certain planned tasks.
For instance, you could watch Netflix an hour, play Candy Crush an hour or whatever that makes you feel motivated after.

4. Turn off the phone while studying or in class.
Yes, I am on my phone 24/7 too. However, if you actually make a promise to yourself to not touch your phone during classes, you will be able to do it. You also will gain so much more information out of the class if you concentrate.

5. Study or skim the material beforehand or after the class is done.
Looking over the material once more really does help you understand and remember what you will or have learned.
Hope you do well on your finals! Don't forget to hit the like button if this post helped you! :D
