Pin This Image! When I travel, I recommend everyone to travel neighborhood by neighborhood or district by district. This, for me, is the most efficient and easiest way to explore as much and save time as well. Recently, I've been exploring Seoul, South Korea. This is my hometown! If you are not familiar with Seongsu-dong (Seongdong-gu), it's right above Gangnam-gu with Han River in between. This hip neighborhood in Seoul is known for their craft coffee bars and hidden gems. Today I will be sharing 4 places to check out nearby Seongsu-dong so you can spend a perfect day! 1. Galleria Foret (갤러리아 포레) This apartment complex got popular in Seoul lately. The building itself was actually built several years ago, but it was hyped due to a lot of Korean celebrities residing here. What’s special about Galleria Foret would be the building location and design, the city view, and the accessibility. There are a lot of restaurants and cafes within the building like a mall, as well as around the area. If you are looking for some good food, check out Pho Mein! We got set menu where it comes with make your own spring rolls and pho bowls. The highlight of our lunch was making your own spring rolls with colorful veggies and fruits. For dessert, we went to Beans & Berries downstairs and got a seasonal berry smoothie! So refreshing and delicious. 2. Seoul Forest (서울숲) Looking for a place to walk around on a sunny day? Seoul Forest is like Seoul’s Central Park. Wonderful place to take a stroll, go on a picnic with the family, kids to have fun, or great spot for a date! There are animals like rabbits, deers, birds... and cool art statues for photos. Since Seoul Forest is so huge, a lot of events take place here as well. Near Seoul Forest, you can also head over to Han River (Hangang=한강) or Ttuk Island (뚝섬) for a beautiful Seoul views! The giant statue you see above is in the kid's playground area. This playground is built for all kids (including kids with disability). On the left is stack of invisible books and on the right is a fun photo of us in Seoul(서울) Forest(숲). They have some fun art pieces all over the Seoul Forest! 3. Andaz Seoul Gangnam (안다즈 호텔) This five star luxury lifestyle hotel near Apgujeong and Cheongdam just opened about a month ago. Some other few five star hotels in Seoul are Lotte Hotel World & Signiel Residence inside Lotte World Tower. Located in the heart of Gangnam, Andaz Hotel is easily accessible to fashion districts like Apgujeong Rodeo, art museums and culinary delights. This hotel is right in front of the exit 3 of Apgujeong Station & Blue Bottle Coffee. Be sure to check out the bar area at the back of the main lobby floor for this cute art piece. Then you can either go up to the second floor to Jogakbo (casual dining restaurant) or downstairs (B1) where there are many cafes and restaurants. If you are craving for dessert, try “The Plate”. They have some unique desserts like cream puffs which are, by the way, very delicious and squid ink croissants. Freezing these cream puffs are a great idea :) 4. Under Stand Avenue This hip cultural center is right next to Seoul Forest. Have you ever been to Common Ground in Gunguk University (건대) in Seoul? Under Stand Avenue is just like that one, an area with clothing shops, restaurants, cafes designed in repurposed colorful containers. Don’t forget to find the hidden positive phrases on the walls and on the ground to cheer you up! Under Stand Avenue is perfect to take some vibrant Instagrammable photos. |
