Have you visited the Houston Heights Mercantile yet? This low-rise urban market district is located between Yale Street and 7th Street. The area is all about dining, shopping, and contemporary lifestyle. Architecture is by the Office Of Michael Hsu who apparently has done some amazing commercial, restaurants & home projects including Houston Heights Mercantile. If you know me, I love art, contemporary feels, unique and uncommon vibes, and exploring new areas alone -- so here are some insights and thoughts about Heights Mercantile. 1. Chubbies Love their interior and clothing line. They are lifestyle apparel brand based in California. It's pretty obvious to tell once you step in. You will experience that "Hollister" vibe. Chubbies' apparel design is creative and fun. Definitely, you should check them out -- they sell men, women and unisex clothing including jackets. Love the interior design and what they've done with the place. They do have an online store as well. 2. Warby Parker They are already popular online, and I was excited to check them out in person. You can't overlook this colorful mural. They have some well-designed shades and eyewear for you. 3. Malenge Creperie Noticed their exterior and interior? Creative and modern. I've tried their Thai Chicken savory crepe for lunch; delicious and healthy! Goes well with the vanilla latte (almond milk for me). 4. Bespoke HTX A cozy vibe store where a lot of various artists' handmade products are shown. Clean and simple interior was a good touch along with art pieces. Morgan, the owner of Bespoke HTX, was friendly and shared a bit about the store. Her goal is to let artists tell their story and connect with the consumers. There's an ongoing project called "the postcard project" inside Bespoke HTX by artist Dana Caldera. You might want to visit the place and submit your answers in person! 5. Cloud 10 Creamery The weather was a bit chilly today so I didn't go for ice cream but if you haven't visited Cloud 10 Creamery yet, you should! They have some delicious ice cream available and they are also located in rice village. Loved their exterior design in Heights Mercantile though! 6. Aesop This Australian-based skincare shop sells hand soaps, shampoo, conditioner and more. As the photo below shows, their display of products is unique. Reminded me of paint. You can sample the products and many of their scents are soft and fresh. Friendly and welcoming service. 7. Will Leather This family-owned lifestyle brand have some leather goods such as wallets, duffle bags, backpacks, travel cases and more! Really enjoyed their collection of travel bags. There are other stores such as The Impeccable Pig, where they hold some cute outfits, Lululemon and Define Body and Mind for sportswear. Some retail companies include Marine Layer, Gypsy Wagon, and Saint-Lo Boutique. According to Houston Culture Map, the two owners of Saint Lo Boutique Lindsay and Skye Vila are Houstonians focusing on fashion photography and finance respectively. They believe in dressing well and shopping locally. More, there's Rye 51 and Q Clothier, familiar concepts offering the casual selection to luxury tailored suits. The area is still under construction and I can't wait what other restaurants and shops will come in. I hear Local Foods are making it to Houston Heights Mercantile as their fifth location. They are also located in Upper Kirby and downtown Houston. This fast-casual sandwich chain is no stranger to us! Overall, I'm glad I have visited Houston Heights Mercantile before it gets packed with people since it's the holiday season now. Love the district, positive vibes, and of course the design and art! They also had skeletons already prepping for Halloween as well. If you haven't yet, do check the area out. Thank you so much for reading & please like, comment or share if you enjoyed the post! :) |
