Do you love bubble tea? I'm not a daily bubble tea drinker, but I definitely tried a wide range of bubble tea from many different places in Houston. Today I want to share the top 5 bubble tea spots with you!

1. Bubble Tea House
This place is my new favorite! I've been going here a lot lately just because their bubble tea is lactose-free. Lactose-free means that the milk they use is not whole milk, instead it's the milk without lactose.  Lactose usually causes me bad stomachaches, so I'm glad I found this teahouse! Some other milk that is better for lactose-intolerant people like me are almond milk or soy milk. So the drinks from Bubble Tea House is super refreshing. From regular bubble tea, smoothie, tea, to even some choice of food & snacks, there's a lot to choose from! I also tried Oreo smoothie - made me so happy! You can change the % of sugar and ice you want as well! I normally get 50-75% sugar. I used to work in a bubble tea place (see below) and I know that there's a lot of sugar and creamer going inside the tea already; so even if you put select 50-75% of sugar, it still tastes right good. Definitely recommend this place as it's my favorite now!

2. The Teahouse Tapioca & Tea

I used to go here almost every week while in college. This teahouse was my main go-to study place or to hang out with friends. This one has several locations, the two I know is the one in Shepherd and the other one in memorial. I only go to Shepherd one as it is close to my house. Memorial one closes early and there's barely no people there.

The Teahouse Tapioca & Tea has wide range of board games available as well as enough places to sit. From bubble tea, hot tea, smoothie, and juice to several toppings, you will have something you like from this teahouse. They also have free popcorns, snacks to choose from, and a printer if you want to print anything. Their Wi-Fi passcode is greentea (hopefully I don't get in trouble by sharing this) haha. It tends to be a bit loud or crowded during the weekends. If you want to study, the back of the teahouse is better since it's a bit quiet compared to the front. They also have large tables and couches at the back. A lot of parking is available since it's located in the plaza. My favorite drink is probably the honeydew cream tea! It's so delicious.

3. Cafe 101

Another teahouse I really like and my go-to when I was a University of Houston student. I recently graduated! See my graduation post here. Cafe 101 has two locations in Houston. One in University of Houston main campus & one in Bellaire. This is the bubble tea place I used to work that I mentioned in #1. I was a bartender who memorized 100+ bubble tea and other beverages. It used to be crazy busy which gave me a cool experience working here. As you can see below, the blue one is one of their specialty drinks. I really like their specialty drinks because you won't see any like that in other teahouses. Some of my favorites in specialty category in cafe 101 are blue baby & ice cream soda (mango and peach). They also have hot beverages, fresh juice, sake and more. From frappe section, I really like the Japanese green milk tea frappe and the chocolate Oreo frappe. Cafe 101 also serves food. Food is okay, I prefer Bellaire location for food. If you ever visit here, make sure to bring a friend or two since their long menu might overwhelm you. There's so much food/tea to choose from!

4. Honey Bee Teahouse & Fast Food

My friend actually suggested me about this teahouse so I thought I'd give it a try! Honey Bee Teahouse is located in Bellaire (so called Chinatown) in Houston. I am also thinking of doing a restaurant & cafe series on Bellaire area since they have so much places to eat around! Let me know if you want me to write about this! Anyways, Honey Bee Teahouse only take cash so make sure to bring cash in hand! Large tables, great for groups, free Wi-Fi! Don't forget to bring cards or board games if you want to play, because they don't have any. Below is what we got, and yes, it's a lot. And this is the regular small size!!! I was surprised how big the drink was when I got mine. Overall, it's tasty but too much so I suggest you getting one to share with your friend.

5. Kung Fu Tea

Last but not least, Kung Fu Tea! There's one thing I really like in this place, their bubble (boba). It's really chewy and sweet. One thing I don't like is their system. They will charge your credit card a flat $5 fee even if your total came out under $5; since their minimum for credit card is $5. I'm not sure whether this is a marketing technique or just to save money, but you must go with a friend for this place because there's no way your total will come out over $5 other than buying snacks. I see a lot of people to-going bubble tea rather than actually sitting here, so Kung Fu Tea is a perfect quiet place to study. There's only few 4-5 parking spaces, but I don't recall waiting for a parking spot. I always get the regular jasmine green tea since I didn't really like others. They also have a stamp card, where if you order 10 large drinks, you will get your 11th for free. (I did it once & got the free drink - but strangely I don't have any photos of them...not even one! So thanks to my best friend who provided this photo below!)

So those were the 5 bubble tea spots in Houston I recommend. I have actually written about one of the teahouses here in my post for 15 Dessert Cafe You Would Love In Houston, but I thought I'd share again. Comment below your favorite bubble tea flavor!
