My New York City trip was unforgettable this time. It was mostly because I spent time with my family and I haven't seen them in a while. Writing about restaurants with most beautiful interior post definitely gave me the inspiration to visit the gorgeous restaurants in New York City as well. So here are 7 cozy and quiet restaurants and bars in New York City.
This mediterranean restaurant has a lot of seafood options as well as is vegetarian friendly. I definitely want to go back. As soon as I found about them, I knew I had to visit in person. You will probably also be in love with the giant wall they have at the back. When I went there, it was closed but I did take some photos. The restaurant itself is located in lower east but once you walk in, you will be surprised how cozy and quiet it looks. They have some good happy hour which lets you order the most of the appetizers for only $6 if you sit out the patio. For us, we sat inside to enjoy the quiet area near the beautiful mural. For dinner, we ordered the charred Portuguese octopus, watermelon salad, scallops and oysters. All of the plates were simple yet flavorful.
We visited this small gem on the last day of my trip. It's right by the Marlton Hotel and they were participating in the restaurant week. Their interior was so cozy and perfect for a rainy day. We ordered the corn and arugula salad and beet hummus for appetizers, and grilled chicken sandwich and roasted pan hake for our entree. All of the dishes were appetizing. I especially loved the arugula salad. Beet hummus was good too though it had a bit a lot of Indian spice. Grilled chicken came out with side of fries and pan hake was tasty as well. If you are looking to eat in a calm and intimate restaurant with healthy food, Claudette is the right place!
This bar is located on the 35th floor in Mandarin Oriental hotel. I thought it would be a great way to spend the evening and finishing up the day looking down the city. We actually did not sit right by the glass windows but realized, you don't necessarily have to sit by the windows. You pretty much have a view of Columbus Circle along with few buildings and night skyline.
Some cocktails, caviar oysters and crispy pork skin definitely were interesting combination. They have some various choices of plates along with prefix courses which is great if you are here for food and drinks. Their caviar oysters were small but tasteful. The crispy pork skin definitely made an entrance. It looked like an art sculpture. The pork skin is covered with salt, vinegar, and corn powder. There is a cilantro hummus with some spicy sauce as well. While it does make a great bite along with drinks, they put way too much salt & vinegar. I couldn't eat the pork skin without drinking water. Everytime I took a bite, the salt & vinegar would fall off the table like snow. I felt like they should let customers to have an option to put salt & vinegar. The atmosphere is definitely high-end and cozy.
This brunch restaurant is lovely. We were able to dine here everyday because we stayed in The Marlton Hotel throughout our New York trip. Just a quick intro of The Marlton Hotel: it is located in Greenwich Village which is perfect if you are looking to stay in cozy and cute neighborhood. We had a great stay at this unique and one-of-a-kind hotel. It does have a harry potter vibe because of the ambiance and hotel key.
Margaux has some healthy vegetarian options for breakfast and their portions are perfect. We enjoyed the avocado toast the most, and greek yogurt, pastries, and oatmeal are perfect to start your day right. Their orange juice is fresh. The green and floral interior is certainly instagrammable and will brighten your day as well.
5. The Lobby Bar in The Marlton Hotel
This bar is located in the lobby area, on the other side of the espresso bar. I am not quite sure of the bar name but you will see it as soon as your walk in and turn left. We drank here last Friday and the ambiance was perfect. While there are crowd all the time, you can barely hear others conversation. With the dimmed light, it sets the mood for some drinks and you can enjoy your desserts at the same time. I loved their mango sorbet. The staffs are friendly and couch area definitely gives you personal space. If you are looking to drink in a quiet yet cozy bar, this one at The Marlton Hotel would be it! Also it's also a great place throughout morning/afternoon to read and work at the tables.
I am so glad I finally dined in this Russian Team Room. This place probably got popular after it was shown in Gossip Girl (Season 2, Episode 23) where Serena got arrested while trying to shceme over Poppy using Georgina. Just like the name, this place is known for the afternoon tea but their food is palatable as well. Their elegant and royal interior really gives you the Russian vibe. It also feels like you are in a Russian art gallery.
We sat in the booth where we were kindly welcomed. Lobster salad, scallops, and mushroom ravioli (not on the menu) were our picks. The lobster literally melted in my mouth as well as those soft and big scallops. The mushroom ravioli wasn't too heavy, but chewy and yummy. We were too full by the end, couldn't order any dessert or tea but you definitely should check this place out!
While shopping around Brookfield Place and Oculus, we stumbled upon Le District. After looking at all different restaurants, Beauborg was the one because I was feeling French & Italian. Their menu book was so simple and lovely. This lemon fettucine with shrimp and broccoli at Beauborg definitely filled me up. Their bread was soft and the classy city environment was a plus. Right next to the restaurant is the Hudson River. It's definitely a nice restaurant to enjoy lunch when it's perfect day out.
For all of these cozy restaurants and bars, it's the best to make reservation instead of walking in. You never know how packed or how limited the seating could be, especially during vacation months. I used OpenTable, the app & website, which allows you to easily modify and make reservations. It also gives you the option to add guests and write down any specific instructions you might have. I love this app and have been using it for years!
