Pin this image! We came to Gramercy Tavern to celebrate. Party of 4, we went with the 7 Course Tasting Menu, both seasonal and vegetarian. Gramercy Tavern is less formal compared to Daniel Restaurant, but still boasts 1 Michelin Star. My first time here at Gramercy Tavern, and they did not disappoint. The vegetarian tasting menu was perfect for me and my family enjoyed the seasonal tasting menu as well. The dress code for Gramercy Tavern is smart casual but feel free to dress up however you want. It's an American restaurant with cozy vibes. The tavern ^ is lively and the main dining room is darker and quiet. The staffs are all accommodating and the service was outstanding. On the left is a small appetizer with zucchini that came out before the actual course meal. On the right is the soft & warm buttery bread. Their bread is so tasty, you crave more. Don't worry, you can ask for more. But don't eat too much, the 7 course meal will make you full. First course, on the left is hakurei turnip. It has trumpet mushrooms, ponzu, and radish. On the right is marinated hamachi with green apple, kohlrabi and lime. I got the vegetarian tasting menu and the hakurei turnip and those mushrooms were so appetizing. Second course, the left is cauliflower with almonds, chile, and feta. This plate was mouth-watering and I finished right away. The right is sea scallops with salsify, potatoes, and mussels. I love scallops and the scallop was very soft and savory. Third course, left is the roasted asparagus with spring onions, nettles, and pickled ramps. I love asparagus and the green sauce was so luscious. On the right is smoked trout with kale, cannellini beans and apricot. I tried a small piece of the trout and it was very delicious. Fourth course, left is the ricotta ravioli with arugula, olives and preserved lemon. I think out of all the course meals, this was my favorite, even though it was a bit salty. The right is suckling pig strozzapreti with pine nuts, asparagus and pea shoots. I didn't choose the seasonal menu after I saw the word "pig" in this menu. I didn't try but it definitely looks more appetizing than I thought it would look like. Fifth course, the left is roasted mushrooms with parsnip, tatsoi, with sherry vinaigrette. I was happy more mushrooms came out since I love mushrooms. The sherry vinaigrette was creamy and rich. The left is pasture raised beef with celery root, ramps and horseradish. I also tried a piece of the beef and it was definitely scrumptious. Then for the final course, the left, I got rhubarb & rose with whipped vanilla yogurt, oat crisp, and raspberries. I didn't realize at first but you need to mix everything together. That's when the raspberries on the bottom mix in with vanilla yogurt and it's just fantastic. The left behind is the strawberries & cream with whipped vanilla cheesecake, angel food cake crisp with sorrel ice. Since two people in our party graduated from Columbia, it was nice of Gramercy Tavern to give us the congratulations cake. This coconut cake was very creamy and tasty as well. Gramercy Tavern really got us with these never-ending desserts. The left is chocolate caramel and coconut jelly. The chocolate caramel was seriously so smooth and yummy. The right are some more bread. I actually was too full to even try but I bet it is delicious. We all enjoyed every part of the meal. It was supposed to be 7 course dinner but I think they were really generous with the portions and talk about exceptional service! Beautiful presentation as well. The whole dinner experience for 7 course meal at Gramercy Tavern took us about 2 hours and a half. You can book a table at Gramercy Tavern with OpenTable & get points. If 7 course meal is too much for you, Gramercy Tavern also offer three course prix fixe menu for $134 per person. |
