If you've been living around Houston for a while, you already know this city has endless food & drinks. Always makes me excited to see what other places will be opening up soon and what's there to eat next. Here are 6 places for food and drinks in Houston.
1. Tasty Ko
A place you would go to eat Korean food in Katy Texas area. The place is clean and pretty big. Since it just opened, they were having some short staff problems. They only had two servers when there were almost 10 big groups of customers. The structure of the restaurant is mainly for groups since they have more booths and tables than for two people. The table felt a bit smaller for group seating since there weren't any space to freely move our legs or arms.
With the short staff, the waiting time was very long. It was obvious that other customers who came after us were complaining and staffs were asking what was wrong. For me, though, the food made up for it. Food was actually delicious and tasted a bit more authentic compared to other Korean restaurants in Houston. I think if they hire more servers, their customer service/waiting time wouldn't be a big problem.

2. North Italia
A brunch place in Houston Galleria area. Seemed like they were busy for brunch. The structure of the seating in North Italia made it even more crowded. They had full-sized bar right next to the main door & a lot of high and low tables surrounded. For 1-2 people, you might not have enough space since all the tables are right by each other. For groups bigger than 4, they seat you to the bigger table/booth which is quite better than the seats in front of the entrance. Can't forget their modern and chic interior. Check out other Houston restaurants that have beautiful interior here.
We ordered coffee, mimosa, and some food. Mimosa was just same as other places, nothing too special. Again, with a lot of people the service was slow; however, they apologized and offered us complimentary pastries which made up our experience. French toast was sweet and delicious. Other meals we ordered were tasteful but super salty!
If you happen to visit North Italia, make sure to let them know not to put too much salt in the food.
3. Torchy's Tacos in Rice Village
After trying this Torchy's tacos, I realized there were more delicious tacos aside from Taco Bell. This place helped me rethink about tacos. For parking, you can park right in the front which is metered, or just park in the garage (up to 2 hours is free). Since it was dinner time, there was a line out the door but they had fast service.
There were a lot to choose from, I got the "Trailer Park" with the sauce. It was so good. I loved how the taco wasn't fried but soft and the portion was small. The fried chicken that goes in this "Trailer Park" taco was really delicious. Chips and the nacho cheese were a great combo.
Torchy's Tacos in Rice Village both have outdoors and indoor seating, and I think this is a great place to just chill with friends! Food comes out fast as well which is a bonus!
4. 13 Celcius
A unique and cozy bar in midtown Houston! Don't judge the place by it's building interior! The place seems worn down and old, but once you go in, it's just their old-fashioned style. 13 Celcius has private lot at the back but if they get full, you have to street park.
All of the servers here are friendly; they are also knowledgable on different wines and cheese plates that goes with it. We asked our server to recommend his favorite wine and ended drinking the whole bottle since it was very smooth and bubbly! The cheese plates we ordered were fresh. Definitely a great place to catch up with friends. Plus, their bathrooms are clean.
5. Cru Wine Bar
Cru wine bar gives you a homey vibe once you walk in. This restaurant and bar is located in River Oaks district in Houston. They have a huge selection of wine to choose from, and you can always ask them if you are not sure!
The favorite meal from Cru wine bar was the stone-fired pizza which is very fresh and delicious! The top one is the Margherita which has cheese, tomato sauce and basil. The bottom one is Cru Steak which has beef tenderloin, mixed greens, and balsamic. The steak pizza, which I never tried before, definitely went over my expectations.
If you are looking to try some well-made stone-fired pizza in a cozy surroundings, Cru wine bar is the answer. They also have cheese plates, steak, soups, salads and more!
6. Cafe Brasil
A casual lunch place in midtown Houston! It's one of those places where you order and wait for your food to be delivered to your table. Our server wasn't as professional. The grilled chicken sandwich was delicious and their sweet potato fries are better than the original ones.
They both have indoor and outdoor seating. On a sunny or fall weather, it's great to sit outside and watch people passing by. If you live around midtown Houston area, Cafe Brasil is a comfortable neighborhood lunch place. For parking, you have to street park.
