Today I want to share 5 best places where you can wind down and relax, when you feel like you are overwhelmed, stressed, or don't know what to do. All our bodies need some peace and relaxation from busy life. We are not machines where we can keep doing the same thing over and over. Soon or later, our bodies will send signals where it is too tired or exhausted to function. In order to prevent your body from shutting down, it's always best to make the right choices for yourself. For example resting a day or taking some time for yourself. There are many ways but today I want to share how I cope with my stress and the 5 places I'd like to go when this happens. 1. Barnes & Nobles Surrounded by books and quiet area will calm your mind. The moment you walk in Barnes & Nobles, just imagine or think all the books that welcome you. Nothing feels better than that. Inside Barnes & Nobles, there are many places to sit down such as the cafe, sofa, chairs or even between aisles. They also have planners, candles, stationaries, and games where you can look around and find peace. 2. Public Library Public libraries are another great place where you can relax and wind down. I think quiet places naturally helps you feel more calm. Most of the people who come to the library are there to research, study or read, which makes it even better if you want silence. In the public library, there are plenty of tables and areas to sit down. Of course, you don't have to read, you can look for videos, talk to the librarian, or do many other things that public library offers, which will help clear your mind. If you are in Houston, public libraries like Robinson-Westchase Neighborhood library or Freed-Montrose Neighborhood library are great. 3. Massage & Spa Massage therapies and spa treatments really help me wind down when I am feeling not well. There are some times where you just feel down not knowing the real reason. You can brighten up your mood by pampering yourself getting full body massages or spa treatments. I used to get monthly massages because it really helped with my migraines. My favorite type of massage is hot stone deep tissue massage because they really go in and relax your muscles. There are many types of massages many places offer, so take advantage of those. Not to mention, throughout your massage session, they turn on this calm and quiet sleepy music, which will relieve you and help you relax. 4. Parks & Hiking Breathing the clean air in nature is the best thing of all. Sometimes, staying home and sitting down for hours all day may not be the best. When I don't go out, I feel like I cannot breathe and trapped, even get lightheaded and nauseus. It's a good habit to walk outdoors everyday. It can be short as 30 minutes or even walking around the neighborhood helps. If you are feeling more adventurous, pick a hiking spot or good trail and walk around those. It's good to rest your eyes from staring at the computer or phone all day. Throughout my relaxing walk in the park, I try to not use my phone at all just for this reason. Eye strain are the worst. I also recommend you to go to trails with a lakeside view or where it has a lot of trees rather than streets or highways. Another great tip is to go to these places by yourself whether than with someone. Spending time alone is the best way to empty anything that is on your mind. 5. Gym Gym is a great place to wind down, relax and let it all out. When you are feeling down or feeling unmotivated, working out at the gym can help you feel less motivated on anything. Hitting the gym and working out until I cannot do it really helps me going throughout the day. You might feel lazy actually going to the gym but once workout for about 5-10 minutes, you will feel your body warming up. That stage will actually make you feel like you want to push yourself. For me, the more I workout, the more I feel better, and the more less stressed I get. I recommend you to workout regularly 4-5 times a week because it definitely changes you and your lifestyle. It's a great activity to clear whatever is on your mind and think in a positive way. Also, don't forget your water! Never good to be dehydrated. I like to drink my water in my water bottle so I can refill it whenever. This Coldest water bottle keeps the water cold up to 36 hours! WHAT?! Get one and we can be twins :) |
