With upcoming Super Bowl weekend, a lot of new restaurants & bars are coming to Houston! Yay! Especially, Avenida Houston (the place between George R. Brown Convention Center and Discovery Green) will be very busy, and many of the places I want to introduce are around downtown Houston. Oh by the way, did you know it's illegal to promote "buy one get one free alcohol" in Texas? Also, you will see a lot of alcohol commercials, but you won't see people inside the commercials actually drinking those alcoholic beverages. Why? Because those companies don't want the consumers to feel like they should drink! I learned these two facts in my beverage marketing class I am taking this semester. Thought I'd share :) So without further ado, let's get right into these 12. 1. Tongue Cut Sparrow Location: 310 Main St. Houston TX 77002 [second floor, above “the pastry war”] Type: an ambitious & formal cocktail bar Fun fact: Bar only has 25 seats Opening: According to their Instagram/FB, they will open on Feb. 8 with full menu Phone: (713) 321-8242 Super Bowl: during the week, they will only have walk-ins and limited-menu History: Tongue Cut Sparrow is by "Bobby Heugel", the owner of Anvil bar & Refuge So, in case you are wondering (I was curious too actually) Here's a little intro about Anvil bar & refuge

One Fifth Steak (CLOSED) Location: 1658 Westheimer Rd 77006 Type: Of course, steakhouse Fun fact: They opened on Jan 26th, 2017 Hours: 5pm-11pm, 7 days a week Phone: 713-955-1024 Reservations: Click Here. Brasserie du Parc Location: 1440 Lamar St. Houston TX, 77010 Type: French Restaurant Fact: Opened on Jan 30th, 2017 Phone: 832-879-2802 Reservations: They are currently taking over the phone, or using OpenTable 4. Xochi Location: 1777 Walker St. Houston TX 77010 [located on the ground floor of Marriott Marquis] Fun Fact: Pronounce it as "So-Chee" Hours:
Reservations: They will be taking reservations online from Feb 6th, 2017, so you would probably have to call for this Super Bowl weekend. Valet: Parking is available for $6 with validation 5. Agu Ramen Location: They have 3 in Houston

Reservations: 10. Osso & Kristalla Location: 1515 Texas Avenue Houston TX 77002 Type: Italian Restaurant Phone: 713-221-6666 Fact: Their website doesn't have much info yet. (I’m looking forward to this place. I love Italian restaurants, its ambience & how close it is from where I live!) 11. Bud Pitmaster BBQ (CLOSED) Location: 1001 Avenida De Las Americas, Houston TX, 77010 [it's inside George R. Brown Center] Type: Southern-styled BBQ Ambience: Upscale & contemporary Fact: They don’t have much info on their website, but checkout their FB page with upcoming events! 12. The Lake House Location: 1600 McKinney, Houston TX, 777010 Hours: will be same on Super Bowl week too!
